The Privilege Of Being A True Christian (Hebrews 3:12-14)
“Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,” (Hebrews 3:12-14)
When we believe in the name of Jesus and receive Him in us in the Holy Sprit, we have His life, the eternal life.
What that means?
It means we became partakers of Christ.
At that moment we say like Apostle Paul, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.
Now we are united in Him.
This true unity in Him makes us united together in the likeness of His death, and certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.
Death no longer has dominion over us because we will overcome sin in His name, which brings death on us.
For the death that Jesus died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
Likewise we also, reckon ourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What a privilege to be a Christian, to have our creator’s eternal life abundantly.
What a privilege to have His Holy Spirt in us to change us to be in His image and likeness.
Having this privilege needs us to be alert and sober lest we lose it.
Therefore we must walk worthy of the calling with which we are called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with long suffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There is one body and one Spirit, just as we were called in one hope of our calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all.
We must let the Holy Spirit’s work in us succeed to change us to the image of His likeness.
Therefore, we do not let sin reign in our mortal body, that we should obey it in its lusts.
And do not present our members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present ourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and our members as instruments of righteousness to God.
And as Apostle Paul said to us that since we we have become partakers of Christ, we have to hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.
Amen.
