Jesus’ Command Is To Love One Another (John 15:12-16)

“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 

You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 

No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 

You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain” (John 15:12-16)

God is love. 

We cannot be called the children of God without having love in our heats that pours out on others. 

Jesus said that the world will know that we are His disciples when we have love for each other. 

When Jesus was asked what is the most powerful commandment, His answer was to love God first with all your heart, mind, soul, then love your neighbor. 

We cannot love our neighbors by our own strength. 

It is impossible. 

Let us be fair, it is easy to love our neighbors if they are friendly, welcoming, and polite. 

But what about when they are rude, grumpy, and unfriendly? 

How do we love difficult people? 

The only way to love others as ourselves is to have Jesus in us. 

This is the meaning of the first commandment to love God from all your heart and mind. 

To receive Jesus in us to the point of unity with Him. 

We have to be completely united with Him in the Holy Spirit. 

When we have Jesus in us we will be able to see our neighbors with His eyes. 

The love of Jesus is not emotional or based on worldly standards, but it is a godly, sacrificial, and unconditional love. 

It is our choice to not only believe in Jesus but to receive Him and be united with Him in the Holy Spirt. 

At this time we will have all His fruits in us and love overflows from us on others. 

We have to choose willingly to submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus in us and abide in Him by obeying His commands.
