Relying on God Through Prayer (Mark 14:37-38)

“Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping?

Could you not watch one hour?

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.

The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(Mark 14:37-38)

Prayer cements our bond with Jesus.

It is a way to communicate with our Lord and to hear His voice.

Jesus Himself commanded us to pray.

Why?

Jesus answered, lest we enter into temptation.

When we pray with every breath to Jesus we proclaim that we are His children and calling His name will let the devil flee away from us.

When we pray we are living our lives according to the word of God.

This means living in obedience, faith, and submission to God’s plan.

We should keep praying and talking to Him to be filled with His presence.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

So when we call His name in prayer we hear His voice and get guidance how to walk His way.

We are very easy to get caught up in our plans, and when things don’t go well, we wonder why.

This is because we haven’t aligned our will with God’s will.

Meaning we haven’t consulted with Him before making a big decision.

Instead, we should pray and ask God for His will for us.

It is not always easy to submit easily to God’s will or plan and we struggle with this issue wanting to work out things according to our own will.

Relying on God can be difficult sometimes, especially when our life is falling apart because of job loss, sickness, or whatever else life throws at us.

But this is the time when we actually need to rely on and trust God the most.

We should rely on God all the time, whether life is good or bad.

Instead of reacting to the situation, we should pray to the Lord.

We should pray about it once we have time to react and let God take it from there.

On the other hand, if something good is happening, we should immediately thank God for blessing us or providing for us when we need it.

So prayer is a powerful way to connect with God while cultivating thankfulness and appreciation.

Shifting our focus from our problems to our blessings gives us a more positive outlook.

We can express gratitude for all kinds of things, both big and small.

We should never forget to thank Jesus for giving us a way to communicate with Him through prayer in the Holy Spirit.

Amen.
