Do Not Love Anyone More Than Jesus (Mathew 10:37-39)

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. 

And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 

And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 

He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” (Mathew 10:37-39)

Some of the believers do not understand Jesus’ words that we have just read “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me.” 

They consider it a very harsh statement. 

Of course Jesus is not saying do not love your family, but He is drawing our attention that if we do not love Him first, we will not be able to love anybody. 

Why? 

Because He is the Spirit of the true love. 

If we do not have Him in us, we do not have love to give to others. 

So if we say we love our family without having Jesus’ love in us, this is a worldly fake love. 

Jesus is the true love and compassion. 

If we do not love our Lord, and receive Him within us in the Holy Spirit, we will not have love to give to our families or to anybody. 

He must be the center of our life and everything needs to flow out of that. 

If anything else is at the center, then that thing becomes the lord of our life. 

Jesus in the book of Revelation, chapter two, He accused the church in Ephesus, that they have left their first love after commending them for their good deeds, hard work, and endurance. 

Loving our Lord and Savior first, means to be filled with the true Love to love all people around us with true love. 

The love of giving and sacrificing not selfish love of taking and controlling.
