The Word Of God is Living & Active (Hebrews 4:11-13)

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:11-13)

We, the believers in the name of Jesus, consider the reading of the Gospel every night as a routine or even a ritual. 
This can cause us to lose our passion for the word of God. 
Reading the word of God is not another item on our to-do list, but it is living, active, and the source of breathing eternal life into our weary souls. 
We read the word of God to hear His voice. 
The word of God reminds us of God’s commandments that we must follow to be away from any temptations. 
It is the way that we must walk to receive the Holy Spirit and let our hearts be His dwelling place. 
We have to acknowledge that the goal of reading the Gospel is not gaining information but being transformed to be on Jesus’ image and likeness. 
The more time we spend in the word of God, the more we will find ourselves filled with the Holy sprit and in the process of our renewal and sanctification.
As we have just read, the verses of today, that the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow. 
So instead of approaching the Gospel as a textbook, approach it as a letter from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which is full of His wisdom, love, and personal guidance. 
As we engage more intentionally, we will start to recognize Jesus’ voice more clearly and see how relevant His truth is to our everyday life. 
We all must pray for the Holy Spirit to come and rekindle our desire to read and obey the word of God in the Gospel.
