Today's Devotional

We Are Made New In Christ. (2Corinthians 5:1-19)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” (2Corinthians 5:1-19)

When we accept Christ and receive Him in the Holy Spirit, we start the process of being a new creation. 
From that moment, we live not according to the flesh, though we have known Christ according to the flesh, but live according to the Spirit of God that we have received in us. 
Being a new creation is more than just becoming a better person, but it is a changing of our heart, minds, and lives. 
This process ends up to change us to the image and likeness of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. 
Jesus’ salvation plan to us is to transform us to His image. We must be thankful and celebrate this sanctification process which will lead to our purification. 
We will say with St. Peter “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ, in His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1Peter 1:3) 
Jesus Himself said in the Gospel of John, chapter three, ”Very Truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” (John 3:3) 
So Jesus came to our world to give us His strength over sin and death. 
He did this by confronting Satan on the cross with His body, which is our body, and overcame him and He was resurrected from death. 
Now, we can reject sin and all its temptation in His name. 
So Jesus came to us to take away all the old-self servings and sinful deeds and desires, and replace them with all the fruits of His Spirit. 
He came to restore His image in us. 
We are called to be holy as He is holy. 
Amen.
