Today's Prayer

A Prayer to Let Go of Materialism

Dear Lord,
I confess that I am often tempted to hold onto material things too tightly. 
I am a carnal person who seeks to please myself all the time and so focused on my physical appearance and on what I own. 
This makes me all the time focusing on myself and not on You. 
I seek ways to please myself and not to please You. 
Please Lord, I want to change and be a humble and spiritual person. 
Please, help me in the Holy Spirit to change and be in Your image and likeness. 
Teach me to live with contentment and generosity. 
Please help me find peace and joy in my relationship with You rather than in my possessions. 
It is always very easy that the devil catch me up with thoughts that let me pursue wealth or status. 
Lord, I know that true fulfillment comes only from You. 
You said in the Gospel of Mathew to not store up for myself treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy. 
Please Lord, help me engrave Your word in my heart and not say it only by my mouth. 
I want to obey and live Your word. 
Please help me to focus on the heavenly treasures which I already have in the relationship with You, instead of chasing material things for fulfillment. 
Show me how to be a good steward of what I have so I use it to bless others rather than hoarding it for myself. 
Let my life reflects the truth that You will give me whatever i need in all circumstances and never be in need of anything. 
Thank You Jesus for listening to my prayers and I know that You will answer all my prayers in the right perfect time. 
In Your precious name, I pray. 
Amen.
