Can Hear Jesus’ Voice (John 10: 3-5)

“The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him.
He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.
They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.” (John 10:3-5)

In this world there are many loud voices that we hear and recognize.
We can listen to our teachers, friends, families, and mostly the social media.
But there is One voice that has the power to command the attention of every earthly and heavenly soul.
It is the voice of Jesus Christ.
He is the living Word of God incarnated.
Every time we sit to read the Gospel, we definitely hear His voice.
His voice has a unique tone, character, inflection, and delivery.
So how do we hear the voice of Jesus?
Apostle Paul answered that question in his letter to the Romans, saying, “So faith comes with hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” ( Romans 10:17)
So Faith is the conduit by which we recognize the voice of Jesus.
He is the living word, and when we know Him, accept Him, and receive Him in us, we follow Him because He is our Savior.
When we receive Jesus in the Holy Spirit, every word is applicable to the moment in time we read them.
It is meant for us, to guide us, in love.
The inspiration of the New Testament is Jesus Christ Himself.
He is the Word of God.
His word in the Gospel is living and active.
The question now is, can we trust the voice of Jesus in the Gospel?
The answer is definitely, YES.
Why?
Because He Himself told us, “I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.”(John 10:11)
As we have just read, He said, ”After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.” (John 10:4-5)
He is our creator and the only One who knows us.
He said that He is the good shepherd who knows His own sheep.
His sheep, who are all those who believe in His name, know His voice, listen to Him, and follow Him.
We do not hear the Lord’s audible voice, though it is possible, but we hear it by faith.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit in us, we are able to discern His voice, through a supernatural perspective, through our faith in Him.
Jesus, in the Gospel of John, chapter twenty, did bless those who believe in Him without seeing Him. (John 20:29)
Jesus promised all who have faith in Him, and received Him in the Holy Spirit, saying, “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
All who came before me were thieves and robbers.
But the true sheep did not listen to them.
Yes, I am the gate.
Those who come in through me will be saved.
They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.
My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10: 7-10)
Amen.
