Today's Prayer

A Prayer to Let Go of Past Pain

Dear Father God,
Your word in the Bible tells me to forget the former things that happened to me and not dwell on the past because You will be  doing new things in my life. 
I trust Your word, God. 
Yes, I confess that I hold onto past pain far too often. 
But now, I am choosing to give You, Lord, my pain so the burden of it would not weigh me down anymore. 
Please, Lord, help me release my bitterness and pain. 
I come to You now Lord, asking You to heal my wounds and teach me to embrace the new blessings You have for me. 
I trust You to restore what was broken in the past and to lead me into a better future. 
Please give me the strength to forgive every one who hurt me, just as You have forgiven me. 
May I learn from my painful experiences without allowing them to define me. 
Please, Lord, help me to move forward in Your grace and trust that You have a hopeful future for me.
In Your precious name, I pray. 
Amen.
