Today's Devotional

Resting in God's Care (Hebrews 13: 5-6)

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13: 5-6)
We, the Christians, need to read and hear this truth specially these days. 
Now in these days the devil is attacking us. 
Many are losing their jobs, or their property, and experiencing intense financial insecurity. 
Those are not circumstances in which one expects to experience contentment, especially if we feel abandoned and alone. 
It is so easy to feel that way when we land in a crisis, and those seasons are also when the devil, the enemy of our souls, attacks us with his lies. 
But St. Paul is reminding us that Jesus will never forsake us. 
We must fend off the devil’s attacks by turning to Him, recognizing and resting in His presence, and thinking deeply on His truth. 
In these ugly days we must remember Jesus’ love, His power, His unchanging character, and His faithfulness to us. 
He promised us that He will be with us in good and bad days. 
All what we have to do is to abde in Jesus, and obey His commands and never lean to the devilish spirit of fear and obey its ways. 
When we fear poverty we start  to covet and maybe we steal others money. 
So St. Paul is warning us to resist the spirit of fear and let our conduct be without covetousness, and to be content with things that we have. 
At this time of fear we must remember how Jesus was with us in the past time of trouble we faced through all our lives and boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. 
What can man do to me?
Amen.
