The Power of Prayer and Seeking God's Guidance (Philippians 4: 6-7)
"Do not worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Then, you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. This peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)
We, the Christians, know that without our Lord and savior, we can do nothing.
He is our protector, helper, and redeemer.
St. Paul is saying to us in these verses, that we have just read, to not worry about anything because if He, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, is with us, who can be against us.
He advises us instead of worrying, we should pray about everything.
We must make time to hear God's calm direction and comfort. As we pray, we start to see things from Jesus’ viewpoint, and we can grasp His larger view and be filled with hope and trust that He will change all circumstance to our good. In these peaceful times with God, we discover power beyond comprehension.
We should ask Jesus in prayer for wisdom, understanding, and insight, and also discern our next move amidst our difficulties and uncertainty.
We should also get advice from experienced Christians, who are one with us in the body.
A fresh viewpoint can often reveal what we have missed.
Thus, speaking with someone who understands the Christian life and its difficulties offers priceless help and clears up our thoughts and feelings.
He can remind us of God's past faithfulness and urge us to trust Him for the future.
To have a body in Christ is a privilege for us to support and cheer each other to share each other's burdens.
Prophet Isaiah says, "But those who hope in the Lord will regain their might; they will soar like eagles; they will run and not grow tired; they will walk and not get weak." (Isaiah 40:31) This verse assures us that we have the ability to conquer difficulties with firm faith and trust in God.
The Lord's promises aren't hollow claims; they're vibrant and effective, changing our viewpoint when we are down.
To focus our attention on the hope God, provides the firm conviction that He's with us and that He will guide us through any trial.
Amen.
