Today's Prayer

A Prayer For Forgiveness

Dear Jesus,
You know that it's hard for me to forgive sometimes. 
But You have been so kind to me and want me to be kind to others too, and forgive the people who hurt me. 
Help me, Lord, and let go of my bitterness over how people hurt me in the past. 
I keep thinking about things that happened, and it's not good for me. 
I don't want to be stuck feeling angry. 
Please, make my heart softer. 
Teach me how to forgive not just say the words, but truly mean it with Your help. 
Please show me how to forgive as You have forgiven me, and empower me to forgive. 
I trust that when I choose to do so, without waiting until I feel like it, the feelings will follow as You change my heart. 
Please heal the hurt inside me, God. 
Take away the anger and fill me with Your peace. 
I am giving You all my pain because I know You can fix it. 
I want to feel free and to move on with peace, feeling Your love for me. 
In Your precious name, I pray. 
Amen.
