Jesus Is Our Hope When We Lose Hope (Romans 15: 13)

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15: 13)

Sadly, we the believers in Jesus Christ, can sometime struggle with depression or have times when we lose all hope. 
This is part of living in this fallen world. 
All the time we hear terrible things happen, and they cause us to feel hopeless. 
When we sit scrolling our phones through social media or we open television to check the news, all show devastating information, like war, destruction, murder, deadly viruses, death, and robbery, etc. 
We are constantly bombarded with bad news. 
It is not surprising that most of us feel hopeless at times. 
When we start feeling hopeless, we can either submit ourselves into the hopelessness, or we can go to Jesus our Lord and Savior. 
If we choose the former, life will only get harder. 
The choice is ours every day. 
It will be extremely hard if we choose to lean into hopelessness, instead of Jesus, the Lord of hope and peace. 
He said that He gives us peace that is not of this world. 
It is an everlasting peace that no one can give except Him. 
But we can never receive this eternal peace, if we are relying on ourselves. 
We need to rely on Jesus the King of Hope and peace. 
The more we find hope and confidence in Jesus, the more we will think positively about everything, because we know that He is working all for our good. 
Jesus wants us to have hope in Him that He will work in our lives to bring about our good. 
The Apostle Paul is praying for us asking the God of hope to fill us with all His joy and peace. 
We can receive it by the power of the Holy Spirit, if we trust in Him and abound in hope. 
St. Paul is proclaiming that God is the “God of hope” if we trust in Him, and this will cause us to overflow with hope by the power of the Spirit. 
We all must know that God is trustworthy, and He can be our source of hope, and He can bring abounding hope, joy, and peace into our lives. 
Amen.
