Set Aside Time to Pray (Colossians 4: 2-5)

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Colossians 4:2-5)

We, the believers, must stay communicated with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, all the time, in the Holy Spirit.
This communication is manifested in praying and talking to Him with every breath we breathe.
Connected to our Lord, makes us feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in us.
We must abide in Jesus, as He said, in the Gospel of John, chapter fifteen, “Abide in Me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4)
Why we need to be in Christ and He in us all the time?
Because without Him we cannot do any of His commands.
As St. Paul is asking us today to pray continuously, why?
Because He will give us the word to preach others, he will open the doors for us to preach others.
Not only that but also He will give us the wisdom to what to say and when to say it.
Jesus will bestow us with His grace to let our speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that we may know how we ought to answer each one.
But unfortunately the devil always wage a war with us to sit and talk to our Lord.
Finding the time, and sometimes the desire to pray, can be challenging.
So today, St. Paul is telling us that we must recognize the need to pray and talk to Jesus.
We can’t hope to develop any intimacy and understanding of God without talking to Him.
We should set a designated time to pray.
That could be at night when we lie down to sleep or in the morning when we first wake.
We make a first step and set time to pray in the morning and then we will find ourselves want to talk to Him more and more and it will become a very precious and essential time that we love to do all day.
We will feel the presence of His Holy Spirit which calms us and makes us feel His peace that no one can take away from us.
Amen.
