Today's Devotional

We Are Eagerly Waiting For The Redemption Of Our Bodies (Romans 8: 21-26)

“Because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 
For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 
Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. 
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. 
For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:21-26)

The glorious liberty of us, the children of God,  is the resurrected life that we will experience in the age to come. 
Then our wills, free from the corruption of the flesh, will be at liberty to follow Christ completely. 
St. Paul is explaining the meaning of hope in the Christian life. 
It is more than wishful thinking and optimism. 
It is a settled confidence concerning things to come. 
This hope is so sure that we can patiently endure suffering in anticipation of Christ’s kingdom. 
We, the believers, do not know how to pray effectively. 
But the Holy Spirit guides us in prayer and aids us in overcoming our weaknesses by teaching us how to pray and by interceding directly for us when our own prayers are inadequate. 
When we are so filled with the Holy Spirit, the human words become inadequate. 
But thanks to our Lord, Jesus Christ, for sending His Holy Spirit to dwell in us to sanctify us, guide us,  and to help us to pray and intercedes for ourselves and for others. 
Amen.
