Jesus Is Our Refuge in Times of Trouble (Psalm 46: 1-7)

“God is our refuge and strength. 
A very present help in trouble. 
Therefore we will not fear. 
Even though the earth be removed. 
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled. 
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. 
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God. 
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. 
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. 
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. 
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalm 46:1-7)

The Psalmist reminds us how God remains our refuge and strength, especially during hard times. 
Trials and challenges are inevitable; every person will deal with grief or is dealing with it now. 
When facing loss, God becomes a secure place where we find peace and rest. 
We sometimes face chaos in our individual lives, as the psalmist describes it 
“Though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” 
Hardships can pile up, and we feel like the whole world is falling apart, a dangerous and hopeless time. 
Yet even during these times, God’s presence can help us endure and remain victorious in the name of Jesus. 
We can’t help the initial feeling (fear, anxiety, discouragement), but with the Holy Spirit we have the ability to turn and focus on God.
He is only a prayer away in our hearts. 
As Psalmist continues to say, “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.” 
Mountains may crumble, but this psalm reminds us how God’s abundance brings joy to us who are God’s house and home. 
And He is ours. 
We always must remember in the time of trouble and trial that we are not alone. 
Jesus, our Lord and Savior, came to save us from all theses evil attacks. 
He said that the peace He gives us no body can take away from us. 
We have to be always united with Him in the Holy Spirit in order to overcome any trial. 
In Him we are more than conquerors. 
Amen.
