God’s Righteousness Through Faith In Jesus (Romans 3:21-26)
But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.
For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:21-26)
The Law of Moses cannot save a person, that is, bring them into an ongoing state of communion with God.
Why?
Because it is not the purpose of the law, nor it does not have that power.
The purpose of the Law is to reveal the knowledge of sin, that we have fallen from communion with Father God, in order to turn our hearts to repentance.
We, the Christians, have to know that the ultimate purpose of our existence is to attain the glory of God.
Even if a person was to keep all the whole law, he would still fall short of that glory.
Why?
Because he would still be bound to death.
The glory of God is both eternal righteousness and eternal life.
Jesus Christ alone lived in complete righteousness and He alone was resurrected from the dead.
Therefore, He alone is the fullness of the glory of Father God and we receive that glory in Him.
God set forth Him as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness.
To propitiate means to “reconcile”.
Those who accepted Christ and abided in Him, received the reconciliation of Father God that was given to them in Jesus Christ, and had made them new and able to reject sin and be righteous in Him.
Jesus’ confrontation with the devil on the cross and His blood that was shed, and His resurrection from the dead, had defeated our enemy and overcame him for us.
His Resurrection, and ascension, reconciled us to God once and for all.
Amen.
