Seek First The Kingdom Of God (Mathew 6: 31-34)

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’
or ‘What shall we drink?’
or ‘What shall we wear?’
For after all these things the Gentiles seek.
For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Mathew 6: 31-34)

Our world has just gotten busier and all of us have activities all day, and have unlimited access to information and opportunities.
We are bombarded in our emails, and always have new things to pursue.
We, the believers, have to have a balance between all the things and at the same time have time to rest and sit to meditate in the word of God.
To have this balance in our day we have to put priorities.
The first thing we have to do when we open our eyes in the morning is to say good morning to God.
We have to ask God to be a part of our day.
We have to surrender our day to God and ask Him to guide our steps.
We read the Gospel, the word of God, and ask the Holy Spirit to talk to us, point on things we have to change, and ask His help to sanctify us.
The word of God that we just read says, we have to seek first the Kingdom of God, which means putting Him first.
Put Him first before anything else.
The best way to practice this, is to sit in the morning before God.
This simple practice could change and direct our days in many different ways.
Instead of starting our day stressed and overwhelmed, we can dive into encouraging verses that give a truth to hold onto and ponder throughout our day.
This verse in Matthew also tells us that “all these things will be added unto you.” When we seek God first, things will fall into place.
This doesn’t mean that trouble won’t befall us, but when we know that God is directing our day, then we submit our hearts and minds to Him and be lead by Him all through our day.
We can more easily trust that it is God’s plan to do what we should do and we can make light of disruptions when we know that God is behind us and guiding us.
Therefore, we will be able  not to worry because we know that God is with us and we surrendered every thought and every decision to His will.
Amen.
