Today's Wisdom
The Joy Of Our Salvation (1Peter 1:6-9)
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love.
Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1Peter 1:6-9)
Every man on earth is seeking happiness. All humanity are longing for joy.
We’re happy when things go our way or circumstances are pleasant, when we feel good, reach a goal, or have success.
Happiness is temporal and only lasts until a problem pops up, we fail, or we get sick.
But the Joy of the Holy Spirit is a gift from Father God to whom they believe in Him and His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Joy of the Holy Spirit gives our hearts happiness and peace that circumstances cannot steal.
It is from within, from the Holy Spirit that dwells in us and not from what happens.
Joy comes from what Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has already done for us on the cross.
We are filled with Joy because we have been rescued from sin and death.
The world around us is full of pain, sorrow, sickness, and death.
But we, the children of God, Jesus came to save us from all these evil spirits and deeds of the devil.
Jesus Christ came to earth to rescue us from sin and death.
St. Paul tells us in his epistle to the Romans, chapter eight, that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set us free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.
Jesus offers this salvation as a gift to anyone who believes in Him.
What could bring more joy?
St. Peter tells us in theses verses we have just read the we, who believe in Jesus, are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for we are receiving the end result of our faith, the salvation of our souls.
Knowing we have eternal salvation gives us everlasting joy.
Amen.
