Is There An Unforgivable Sin? (Mark 3:28-30)

“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.” (Mark 3:28-30)

We must read carefully these verses of the Gospel of Mark, in which Jesus said, that people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but then He gives one exception, which is "Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit.” He continues to say that they are guilty of an eternal sin, which means it is not forgiven in this age or the age to come.
So what exactly is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?
To understand this difficult saying, we need to see that it came in the context of Jesus’ opponents charging Him with doing His work by the power of the devil rather than by the power of the Holy Spirit.
He was warning them to be very careful not to insult or mock the Spirit.
Insulting the Spirit means rejecting it.
When one sees clearly that God is performing miracles to tell him, I am He, who created Heaven and earth, with one word I utter I make things exist which never exited.
When Jesus had been performing miracles, including driving demons out of people by the power of the Holy Spirit, the people instead of recognizing the source of Jesus’ power and accepting Him as God’s Son, the religious leaders accused Him of being possessed by the devil and driving demons out in the power of the devil.
Rejecting Jesus, the Son of God, being sent for our salvation, is the only iniquity that will never be forgiven The unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit in the context of the Spirit’s work in the world through Jesus Christ.
The Pharisees, had witness irrefutable evidence that Jesus was working miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit, yet they claimed that He was possessed by the prince of demons Beelzebul.
The only unpardonable sin today is that of continued rejection and unbelief, though Jesus does miracles in our everyday lives.
There is no pardon for a person who dies in his rejection of Christ.
The Holy Spirit is at work in the world, convicting the unsaved of sin, righteousness and judgment.
If a person resists that conviction and remains unrepentant, then he is choosing darkness over light.
To commit this sin is one must consciously, persistently, deliberately and maliciously reject the testimony of the Spirit to the deity and saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God gives encouragement to the sinner who is convicted of his sin: saying,  “Come near to God and He will come near to you” (James 4:8).

And the testimony of St. Paul is positive proof that God can and will save anyone who comes to Him in faith (1 Timothy 1:12-17).

Amen.
