Prayer In The Name Of Jesus Is A Powerful Force (Mathew 17:17-21)
“Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you?
How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Mathew 17:17-21)
Everyday we hear distressing news that bombard our hearts: wars everywhere, disasters, unprecedented storms, violence, hatred, divisions, abuse, and broken lives.
We feel like escaping from all these seems impossible.
Feelings of helplessness leave us stuck in fear, anxiety and depression.
But Jesus our Lord and savior gave us the way out of all these evil spirits that attack us unceasingly.
He told us to come to Him and lay down our worries and burden and He will relief us.
He also said to ask Him anything in prayer with faith and He will answer us.
Prayer is the most powerful force we have.
We, the children of God, have this access to Father God through His Son, Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit.
He gave us the gift of asking in the name of Jesus Christ, knowing He will hear and answer.
Jesus tells us in these verses we just read, that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.
Nothing will be impossible for us in His name.
Praying about every doubt, fear, uncertainty, and problem that comes to our minds is very essential.
We need to bring everything to Almighty God because prayer makes a difference.
St. Paul taught us to not worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
We have to go to our Lord and tell Him what we need, and thank Him for all He has done.
Then we will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus.
Paul also mentions to give thanks when praying.
It is important to pray with gratitude, thanking God for all He has done and all He has going to do.
Faith requires focusing on God and trusting Him for answers.
Our Father possesses all wisdom, and nothing surprises Him.
Our Almighty God can change the times and seasons, and do the impossible.
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
His purposes will be fulfilled.
Placing our hope in His sovereign care and control makes peace possible.
We must trust God’s love for us.
We must know that without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him.
His reward is not that we will always get the answer we want, but that He will give us peace that surpasses our understanding and grace to bear whatever comes.
We can have faith in God and His promises, including that He will always be with us and trusting His unfailing love.
Amen.
