God’s Everlasting Love (Romans 8:31-37)
“What then shall we say to these things?
If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect?
It is God who justifies.
Who is he who condemns?
It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”(Romans 8:31-37)
When we feel desperate for God’s power to push us onward, dying for encouragement and hope to take deep root in our souls with persevering patience and joyful expectation, we must open the Gospel and read these verses of the epistle to the Romans.
St. Paul is calming us down, assuring us that if God is for us, who can be against us?
He reminds us with God’s salvation plan for us.
He did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, so, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Why we are afraid and we have our Father God who justifies and His Son, Jesus Christ, who makes intercession for us?
We are the children of God.
He will never forsake us.
He is dwelling in us, protecting us, and saving us from our enemy, the devil.
We must be set free from the chains of discouragement that seemed to be holding us down, zapping our energy, and paralyzing our will and way.
Jesus defeated death and sin for us on the cross.
He gave us His overcoming power and all His strength to resist all the devilish spirits of, depression, anxiety, fear, and discouragement.
We should stand sturdy on the solid rock, which is God’s words.
He said that He will be with us and never forsake us.
His trustworthy word says, that with Him we will conquer all the devil’s spirits.
We must remember that in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
These verses worth memorizing and scripting on our hearts to fight and face such fragile moments.
We can trust these words and truth of Jesus’ presence, help, and victory.
They are His gifts to us as children of God.
In our moments of struggle, we need to never let go of His hand, while running with perseverance the race of life He has mapped out before us.
Amen.
