Be Watchful And Thankful (Colossians 4:2-6)

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Colossians 4:2-6)

St. Paul in his epistle to the Colossians is asking us to be vigilant in prayer with thanksgiving.
How?
By continuing earnestly to focus on Jesus’ love and life and to go to Him in prayer with faith and trust that He will answer all what we ask Him for, in His will.
He is leading us to the right way to live in peace and rest.
How?
To devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
What this means is that prayer can help us to be both watchful and thankful.
When we dedicate time to sit in front of the Lord and talk to Him, laying under His feet all our fears and concerns, we will be more careful to observe all the little things we can be thankful for.
Our eyes will be enlightened to see His love and mercy on us all our lives.
We will be able to see how many times He saved us and protected us from evil.
If we go to Jesus in prayer each day, we will be able to be more thankful in our everyday lives.
Jesus said ask and you will be given.
If we ask Him in prayers with faith He promised to answer all our prayers.
He is our healer, comforter, and our savior.
When we pray everyday, many times a day, this will help us to cultivate a heart of thankfulness.
Not only that, but also we will be able to defeat the devilish spirits that attack us every day.
We will be warriors who know how to attack the devil and not wait and sit until he attacks us.
We all must give thanks for the little things and be watchful for any other blessings.
Jesus is a good God who is worthy of our praise and thankfulness.
Amen.
