Humbleness Is The Only Way To Receive The Holy Spirit (James 4: 6-10)
“Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore submit to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Lament and mourn and weep!
Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (James 4: 6-10)
Satan, was the angel who was in a position that was most near to Father God (The Cherubim), who is the bearer of His throne.
The splendor of God reflected on him all the time.
And from the abundance of splendor to this place, being so near to the throne of God and His splendor, Satan thought that this splendor is his and not God’s.
At the moment he focused on his beauty and the greatness of his position, he was filled of pride even over God Himself, his creator, and he became a fallen angel.
The same thing happens to us when we focus on ourselves not on God our creator.
He is the source of our life.
We must be in a continues unity with Him in order to be spiritually alive.
Satan, the fallen angel, has become full of death and remorse, and became filled with hatred against all humanity, the creation of God.
His goal is to possess man with his pride over God and doubt in His goodness.
So we must check ourselves everyday unless we have pride in our hearts.
It could be pride in our possessions, pride in our reputations, pride in our experiences, or even pride in our faith.
Whatever fuels our pride, we must get ride of.
God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Modesty is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
If we are in Jesus and Jesus is in us, we must be humble like Him.
We focus in Jesus to be filled with His humbleness.
The proud is always looking down on himself, on things and people not on the Lord.
If we desire to experience Jesus’ full presence and dwelling in us then we must root out pride in our hearts.
When we are proud we lift up ourselves and feel distorted to view the truth.
We block our ability to see the Lord’s love to us.
We imprison ourselves in our own minds, blinded to see who Jesus is, His love for us, and His good will towards us.
When we cast pride away and humble ourselves before the Lord, His love and grace, lift us up, and infuse our lives with His truth, knowing who we are as children of God.
We must resist the devil’s temptation with pride, in order to see the glory of God and His unconditional love for us, and all He wants for us.
Amen.
