In The Shadow Of Our Lord’s Wings We Have Refuge (Psalm 57:1-3)

“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by.
I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me. He shall send from heaven and save me; He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.” (Psalm 57:1-3.)
All of us have been exposed to a sort of storm in our lives that devastated us in other ways.
Things like incurable disease, grief, loss, depression, and so much more have touched so many lives.
These types of storms aren’t cleaned up in a few days, weeks, or even months.
Sometimes, these storms leave us ragged and worn for a long time.
Unfortunately when this happens the first thing we do is to try to fix things on our own way.
We exhaust all of our own resources before coming to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We forget that He is our savior, who came to our world to give us life abundantly.
He is the only one who can change the impossible and make it possible.
He has a way when there is no way.
So we must do like the Psalmist and run to our Lord, and tell Him, “in You Lord, our souls take refuge; in the shadow of Your wings we will take refuge.” Instead of trying to solve the problems with our own wisdom, or running to weapons, war, or our own strength, we should run to our savior. He is the one who is full of mercy and can do the impossible.
Also, In the middle of any storm we are facing we must remind ourselves that the storms of destruction will pass by and will soon be gone.
Facing storms with bold faith and trust in our Lord’s protection, develops our faith muscle.
A tree with strong roots can endure any type of wind.
So if Jesus is dwelling in us and we are abiding in Him and submitting our lives to Him, no matter how strong the wind we face, we may endure it and  triumph over it.
Jesus can change any trial for His glory and our good.
In all of this, Father God’s purpose is to make us more like Christ.
Amen.
