Seek The Path Of Righteousness (Proverbs 4:20-22,25-26)

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh…….. “Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil. (Proverbs 4:20-22,25-26.)

There were countless times when we took wrong decisions, made wrong choices, or even let ourselves be addicted to bad habits.
Each time we did walk in a wrong path, we knew deeply inside that it was not right what we did.
We try hardly to convince ourselves that “it wasn’t a big deal, or ”it’s not hurting anyone,” or“ everyone else is doing it.”
But we must know that although our choices may not always directly affect or harm us or other people, it is actually a sort of rebelling against God’s voice deep in our conscience and sinning against His commandments.
These verses that we read now, advise us to give careful thought before we step into any path or take any decision and ask ourselves a very important question, “is what we are doing matching the word of Jesus in the Gospel and His commandments?”
We must pay extra attention to have our eyes fixed firmly on Him so that we will continue to walk in His righteousness.
We know how easy is for us to deviate and get off the path of our Lord Jesus and choose a different direction than what He planned for us.
We can easily be entangled with the fake glory of this world and got to fall in its trap.
Sin often starts with something small and then escalates and turning away from Jesus’ plan for us happens gradually.
That’s why it is imperative that we stop before we start, that we do not dare to dabble.
The author of the book of Proverbs warns us not to even turn our heads in the wrong direction, lest our feet follow.
So we must ponder the path of our feet, and let all our ways be established.
We do not turn to the right or the left and must remove our foot from evil.
It is a daily commitment and a faithful act of obedience to submit every detail of our lives over to our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Staying on the path of righteousness needs us to fight and resist all distractions and hindrances that exist.
Each day we must remind ourselves to obey Jesus’ commandments and choose His ways, which are better than ours, and never follow the ways of the world that lead to our destruction.
In the Gospel of Mathew, chapter seven, Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate.
For wide is the gate, and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Amen.
