Generosity Is An Attribute Of God (2 Corinthians 9:6-11)

“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-11.)

Living in this volatile world full of wars and famines makes us sometimes, we the believers, not cheerful when we give our offerings.
Our hearts are consumed with fear.
We are afraid all the time of not having enough.
Our faith may not be strong to trust God to meet our needs.
We rely on money for protection and security instead of Jesus.
But these verses reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver and when we sow bountifully we will also reap bountifully.
We must know Jesus is the One who gives us all what we have and all what we need.
So we must trust Him that He is the One who will protect all what He has given us.
God is able to make all grace abound toward us, that we, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
If we want to have this spiritual gift of giving  generously and cheerfully we must first be genuinely content and satisfied with whatever the Lord would supply.
Second, we must be confident and certain that He will meet all our needs.
Third, we must replace worry with generosity.
Giving cheerfully is a spiritual privilege that we must ask the Holy Spirit to plant and develop inside us.
Forth, we must be aware not to idolize the riches of this world.
As we have been blessed through Jesus, we also must be a blessing to those He brings into our lives.
We do not hoard our blessings but Share them cheerfully.
And when we make the choice to be generous, we keep that between us and the Lord.
We know that what we give, is for Jesus’ glory, not our own.
Jesus always reminds us in the Gospel that we do not need to worry about what we eat or wear because all what we need He will provide.
He fulfills our deepest spiritual, and material longings.
If we have Jesus, we already have what we need most in this world.
Amen.
