Today's Devotional.

The Sign Of True Love Is Obedience (John 14:20-21)

“I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. 
And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
(John 14:20-21.)

When our actions do not match our words of love, this means that our love is not true. 
Jesus said if you love me, obey my commands. 
The true sign of love is obedience. 
The only thing that Jesus asked us for is our hearts, which means our love. 
And He told us how to love Him, and that is to obey Him. 
We do not obey Him because we fear Him but because we love Him. 
The old picture of God who is full of wrath because of our sins is corrected by Jesus Himself, 
the only begotten Son of God, who took a body like ours, descended from heaven to our world, 
to reveal to us the true image of God. 

God is love. He is full of mercy. 
Jesus has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. 
He Himself gave us the example of obedience when He obeyed Father God 
to fulfill the eternal salvation plan for all humanity. 
Obedience is also a sign of genuine faith. 
It leads to spiritual maturity and deeper intimacy with Father God. 
Without obedience any words of love we say to God, even the sincere ones 
and the pious actions are hollow. 
So how we say to Him we love you and then go and do all the evil actions 
which are against His word of truth in the Gospel and His commandments. 
Like going to the church everyday and sing songs of love and worship to Him 
but at the same time I hate my friend or my brother because he goes to a different church 
than mine, or he does not do what I want him to do, etc.

Jesus said we love each other as He has loved us and this is the sign 
that we are His disciples and children. 
Ignoring His truthful words means we do not love Him. 
So obedience is not about words we say to Him while praying 
but it is our inward attitudes that aligns with His will and commandment. 
When we truly  accept God’s will, that makes obedience so powerful 
and it transforms our lives to be in Jesus’ image and likeness.
