Today's Devotional.

We Need To Train Ourselves To Be Godly (1 Timothy 4:7-10)

Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; 
rather, train yourself to be godly. 
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, 
holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 
This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. 
That is why we labour and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, 
who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.”
(1 Timothy 4:7-10.)

St. Paul is teaching his disciple Timothy how to be a good and faithful minister 
of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith.  
He is drawing our attention that godliness needs training, it does not happen overnight. 
But we need to strive day and night to reject and expel our old fallen nature 
and open our hearts to accept the new nature in the Holy Spirit. 
We have to put our hope and faith in our living God who started the good work in us 
and He will fulfill successfully. 

Jesus came to save us from the enemy’s plan to take us from Him with lustful desires. 
But we believe in His words, He said no one can snatch us from Him 
because we accepted and received Him. 
The Holy Spirit is sanctifying us to be His holy temple
and we will be in Jesus almighty name. 
It is a process that takes time and effort from our side.
To stop all the automatic reactions and attitudes needs training and perseverance. 
We need to be trained everyday but almost every hour to reject all that is ungodly 
and receive all that is godly. 
Amen.
