Today's Prayer.

A Prayer to Confess And Ask God for Forgiveness.

Dear Lord,
I come to You to confess my sins. 
Lord, I am under the attack of the evil spirit of envy. 
I envy people around me who have happy families, 
flourishing career, 
and who seems to have stress-free life. 
I always look on what they have which I do not have. 
I envy people who could do what I could not do. 
It aggravates me when I see people who do not know you, 
and completely indulged in their lustful desires, 
can have everything they want and live in prosperity, 
while I do not. 
I see that this is unfair and I pity myself. 

Lord, please forgive me. 
The book of proverb tells us 
to not envy worldly people and sinners, 
but always continue to fear the Lord. 
Please, Lord,  get this sin out of my heart. 
Forgive my weakness that causes me to sin and stumble. 
Please Lord, renew a right spirit in me, 
and cleanse me from my hidden sins. 
Teach and empower me to obey Your Holy Spirit, 
instead of obeying the evil spirit of envy. 
Teach me in the Holy Spirit to focus my energy on seeking You, 
instead of focusing on other people’s life and possessions. 
Help me to grow discerning my heart 
and mind, especially when I am envious. 

Lord, I come to You to repent from envy. 
Help me to replace it with a proper view of the people 
I am envious.  
Please Lord, when I am tempted to look around 
and compare my life and circumstances 
to the people around me, 
remind me to focus on You and Your love to me. 
Change me, Lord, and help me to see the people 
You have placed in my life the way You do. 
Help me to find comfort in You, 
knowing that the world we are living in is unfair 
and corrupted. 

Lord, I also confess discontent and covetousness 
which are the roots of envy. 
Help me, Lord to repent of these sins, 
which inevitably steal the joy from my daily life. 
Let me instead, embrace hope and faith 
that I will be renewed and changed 
and You will succeed in the Holy Spirit 
to let me be in Your image and likeness.
In Your Almighty name, I pray. 
Amen.
