Today's Devotional.
Joy Is A Fruit Of The Holy Spirit (John 15:10-11)
“If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
“I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy
may be complete.”
(John 15:10-11.)
In this stressful world finding and maintaining joy can seem impossible.
However, as Christians, we have the source of the true joy which is not
dependent on our circumstances, but on the indwelling of Jesus in us.
His Joy is a gift of His Spirit to all who accept Him, receive Him,
and abide in Him.
It is an uncreated Joy that does not come from any created
and materialistic thing or circumstance.
St. Paul emphasizes that our joy should be in the Lord.
When we anchor our joy in His presence in us, being His temple,
we can experience joy regardless of what the devil throws at us.
To maintain joy in our everyday life we must start our day every morning
with gratitude, thanking Jesus for His blessings.
This will help us to shift our focus from the problems we are facing,
to the Lord’s goodness and be filled with His joy.
Trusting in Jesus’ love to us and His sovereignty is crucial for maintaining joy.
The Gospel tells us that God is in control and has a plan for our lives.
This assurance makes us rest in His wisdom and perfect timing
and we can say like St. Paul “we know that in all things God works for the good
to those who love Him.”
(Romans 8:28.)
When we find our joy in the Lord, it strengthens us to face all the challenges
with resilience and hope.
Also one of the most important things we must do to maintain our joy
is to be content in any situation.
Contentment is so linked to joy.
It comes from trusting that Jesus provides everything we need
and being satisfied with His provisions.
We must be thankful for what we have and this attitude will help us
to cultivate a heart of contentment and fill us with joy all the time,
even in the time of trouble.
May we all abide in Jesus, our Lord and savior,
to experience the presence of His joy and love all the days of our lives.
Amen.
