Pray Without Ceasing (1Thessalonians 5:17-22.)

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 
Do not quench the Spirit. 
Do not despise prophecies. 
Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” (1Thessalonians 5:17-22.)

St. Paul is advising us in these verses to pray without ceasing, and to give thanks in any circumstance we are facing either good or bad. 
This advice is very effective and full of wisdom. 
Why? 
Because when we pray without ceasing we are in the presence of the Holy Spirit constantly. 
This constant presence of the Spirit will put a permanent barrier of protection from the works of the devil and have God at the forefront of our minds. 
The devil cannot penetrate us if the Holy Spirit always dwells in us. 
In order to ensure this constant presence of the Holy Spirit, we must pray all the time without ceasing. 
St. Paul’s second advice is to thank God in all circumstances. 
Why? 
Because thanksgiving makes God in the scene, even if what is happening to us is an evil trial from the devil. 
When we give thanks, we have willingly gone to conjure God into the scene to transform evil that satan wanted for us and turn it into good for us. 
These two pieces of advice are the basis on which every Christian should live and the way to overcome the devil’s schemes.

May we all be sober to pray without ceasing and be thankful in everything.
Amen.
