Cling To Hope In Christ (Psalm 119:81-88)

“My soul faints for Your salvation, But I hope in Your word.
My eyes fail from searching Your word, Saying,
“When will You comfort me?”
For I have become like a wineskin in smoke,
Yet I do not forget Your statutes.
How many are the days of Your servant?
When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me?
The proud have dug pits for me,
Which is not according to Your law.
All Your commandments are faithful; They persecute me wrongfully;
Help me! They almost made an end of me on earth,
But I did not forsake Your precepts.
Revive me according to Your lovingkindness,
So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.”
 (Psalm 119:81-88.)

Many times we get frustrated when we ask our Lord, Jesus Christ,
to deliver things we want to have and He does not answer our prayers.
The Psalmist in these verses expressed exactly what we feel
when we are longing for something to happen and it is not delivered.
He says my soul faints while I am waiting for You, God, to hear my prayers
and answer my requests.
We feel discouraged, forsaken, and have no hope that He would ever hear us.
But this is not true.
We the children of God, never been forsaken.
Jesus hears our prayers and He Himself commanded us
to ask Him for every things we need, even the impossible things, with faith and patience,
and He will fulfill them all not some, but all.

In the Gospel of John, chapter sixteen, He said,
”Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.
Until now you have asked nothing in My name.
Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
(John 16:23-24.)
We also read in the Gospel of St. Luke, Jesus assuring us that He will answer all our requests, saying,
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock,
and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Luke 11:9.)

St. James in His epistle advices us to ask Jesus in faith with no doubting, in order for Him to stretch His hands and answer us, saying,
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally
and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea
driven and tossed by the wind.
For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
(James 1:5-8.)

So we need to cling to hope in God’s word, for His word is the truth
and He cannot contradict Himself.
Trust in Him and the more you trust Him, the less you will doubt, fear, or give up.
So why Jesus did not answer our prayers up till now?.
Because He is our good God, who knows when is the perfect time we are ready to receive the desires of our hearts.
He will not act a moment too soon or a moment too late when it comes to doing what is eternally best for us.
We must trust in our Lord and Savior with what we don’t know,
and we have to rest in the fact that He loves us,
we His children, and He causes all things to work for good to those who love Him
and called according to His purpose.
Amen.
