Today's Prayer Devotional

We Have True Freedom In Christ(Romans 6:20-23)

"For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 
But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things 
of which you are now ashamed?
For the end of those things is death. 
But now that you have been set free from sin 
and have become slaves of God, 
the fruit you get leads to sanctification 
and its end, eternal life” 
(Romans 6:20-23).

Jesus Christ provides freedom from the control of sin
which leads to our death. 
Jesus came to give us His power and authority over demons 
and their sinful temptations. 
He gave us His eternal life which abolishes all the darkness 
and sin that dwells in us. 

Freedom in Christ is the only true kind of freedom 
because it provides everlasting freedom beyond this life. 
We read in the Gos[el of John, Chapter eight, 
"If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" 
(John 8:36).  

When we find freedom in Christ we become His children. 
St. John said, 
"But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, 
he gave the right to become children of God", 
(John 1:12). 

St. Paul in his letter to the Galatians also notes, we are now children 
and heirs of the inheritance of eternal life with Christ for eternity. 
To have this control over sin and be set free 
means we have to have Christ in us, 
abiding in Him in the Holy Spirit.  

We as believers now seek to live a transformed life 
because of the new free life we have in Christ. 
We must put off all the old sinful and worldly ways 
and habits and develop new patterns that honor God. 
Amen.
