Do Nothing From Selfishness Or Empty Conceit (Philippians 2:3-8)

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” 
(Philippians 2:3-8.)

Our culture teaches us to take care of ourselves before we can take care of someone else. 
It emphasizes the importance of “me time” and self-care. 
This culture let us be self-centered which is the opposite to the teaching of the Gospel. 
We, the children of God, must live a life of sacrifice, selflessness, and humility. 
When we focus on our needs and satisfies all areas of our lives, we will definitely not be able to think of someone else needs and we will not even have time for others. 
This attitude of selfishness will most likely not let us be able to take our gaze off ourselves, and we will never experience the beauty of relying upon God’s grace in the midst of our own weakness and struggles to lay down our lives for others. 

St. Paul exhorts us to imitate Christ’s humility that let Him obey even to the point of His death 
on the cross. 
Jesus is our perfect example that we must follow in our Christian life. 
Jesus showed us what true humility looks like, and the life which is completely 
dependent upon Father God. 
We cannot pour our lives out for others without the grace and power of Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit.
Being in unity with Christ and abiding in His life and love is the only way that leads us and makes us able to live a selfless and humble life. 
Amen.
