In Christ We Are Free From The Law Of Sin And Death.

(Romans 8:2-6)

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
(Romans 8:2-6.)

In Jesus Christ, the incarnated Son of God, we are free from the law of sin and death.
The Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from sin.
Now receiving Jesus’ life in us we can resist all the worldly temptations that let us sin.
In the epistle to the Romans, St. Paul said that the wages of sin is death.
This means that the consequence and the fruit of sin is death.
When we sin we die spiritually.
But, now after receiving the eternal life in the Holy Spirit, there is no condemnation for us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death. Therefore, we no longer have to fear death, and we are free from bondage to sin.
Jesus said that the one who sins is a slave to sin.
Being under the influence of the devil and his thoughts makes sin become more powerful than our will to resist it.
Thankfully, St. Paul has pointed us to the solution to get rid of the grip of sin, saying,
“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin, because anyone who has died has been freed from sin”
(Romans 6:6-7).
How glorious it is to walk in the freedom from sin!
Amen.
