God Gives Us Richly All Things To Enjoy (1Timothy 6:17)
"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy." (1Timothy 6:17.)

Many people misunderstand this verse and consider it a call to those who want to live for the Lord and follow His commands, to be ascetic in enjoying this life on earth.
They should not live fully; they must not care about their appearance, clothing, or housing but instead live on subsistence. But this verse, on the contrary, draws our attention to the fact, that we must enjoy our Lord, Jesus Christ, and that He is the One who gives us everything on earth to enjoy.
Our Lord proclaims Himself and His love through His blessings and everything around us.
This verse advises those who depend on their wealth, and derive their strength and peace from their money, not realizing that the One who gave them wealth to enjoy, is our God and Lord.
We must enjoy everything through Him; How? By focusing on the giver of the gift and not on the gift itself.
St. Paul here is telling us that we cannot focus on the giver of blessings, Jesus Christ, unless we humble ourselves and submit to the work of the Holy Spirit in us. We surrender our lives to Him; How?
By praising Jesus with thanksgiving. We enjoy Christ’s presence in everything we have when we remember to thank Him for all He gave us and when we stand humbly before Him and glorify His name in every breath that comes out of us.
When we do not trust in uncertain riches but in Jesus Christ, the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
May we all trust in Jesus’ love and strength.
May we all feel His presence in everything we do and in everything around us.
Jesus Christ is our creator who gives us everything we need on earth and to enjoy it in His presence. Amen.
