Bringing Every Thought Into Captivity To The Obedience Of Christ (2Corinthians 10: 5-6)
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2Corinthians 10:5-6.)
We most of the time get caught up in patterns of toxic thoughts.
Whether it is a seed sown by a lie someone spoke, a sinful seen we saw on TV, or a tempting idea that the devil is trying to distract us with.
When thoughts are swirling, sin begins to invade us and our struggle with the devil starts.
When we are not in the posture of a continuous focus on our Lord, Jesus Christ, our minds can easily become derailed by one of these.
We must remember that the devil is so wicked and he does not want us to focus on our source of eternal life, love, and peace.
He is distracting our thoughts so that we do not receive the eternal light which destroys his darkness in our lives.
St. Paul is exhorting us to keep every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ and to engage frequently and fervently with Him, in order to have the authority to stop the enemy’s attacks from infiltrating our minds and hearts, and be able to resist every evil thought and surrender our minds and souls to Him.
May we all surrender our souls and minds to Jesus Christ, our Lord Savior, and obey His commands to live a fruitful life filled with His wisdom and light.
Amen.
