Jesus Promised Us to Answer Our Prayers (Mark 11:22-24)

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:22-24)

Jesus’ promise to all those who believe in His almighty name, is to answer all their prayers. But there is a certain condition to this promise, which is to pray with faith.

Many times we got our prayers answered but in the same time we have had experiences when our prayers seemed to go unanswered. Sometimes, we find ourselves wondering, when is God going to answer our prayers?

We must check ourselves first before blaming Jesus for not answering. Sure the defect is in us not Jesus. If He promised, He is faithful to fulfill His promise. So why He did not answer?

There are many reasons our prayers may go unanswered. First, if our petition is for our own selfish interest, pride or attainment, and not to honor and glorify our Lord. This is why we pray in the name of Christ.

Jesus told us in the Gospel of John, chapter fifteen, that if we abide in Him and His words abide in us, whatever we ask would be given to us. So prayer that is offered in the name of Christ and to His glory is answered.

One other reason our prayers may not be answered is because we are dwelling on worry. We, the believers think that anything we want and ask Jesus to give it to us, He will give it to us right away. Well, that is not right because worry is the spirit of the devil that separates us from Jesus and hinders our prayers to be heard.

While praying our attitude should be one of implicit confidence that Jesus is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. We have to have faith in Him and not to worry.

Sometimes Jesus waits to answer our prayers to train us to wait with patience for Him. As difficult as waiting can be, it builds our spiritual muscles in a unique way. To wait upon the Lord shall renew our strength and make our faith more bold.

We have to exercise faith and believe that we have everything we need for growth. Patience is a very essential weapon in our spiritual warfare. It helps us to overcome the evil spirits of doubt and fear.

We must be assured that Jesus will answer our prayers in His perfect time, and with confidence that He will change all our bad circumstances for our good in His perfect time.

The important thing to remember while waiting for Jesus to answer our prayers is that He hasn’t forgotten about us or abandoned us. He Himself goes before us and will be with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. We must not be afraid or discouraged.

Jesus has also promised to answer every prayer according to His marvelous grace, His infinite power, and in keeping with His infinite love and faithfulness. Amen.
