Not Every Open Door Is From Jesus (Galatians 5:16-18)
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:16-18.)
We, the children of God, must be in full unity with our Lord, Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that guides us in our spiritual journey.
He units us with the Only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ.
He is the Spirit of discernment that we need in this hard time where the devil spreads his confusion and delusion.
He deceives many by giving us fake peace, love and healing.
He imitates the fruits of the Holy Spirit to deceive many.
One of the things that he used to deceive many believers with, is the concept of “an open door”.
We sometimes wonder if an open door is from the Lord, or it is a snare and a trap from the devil, our enemy.
We have to check any good idea that comes to our mind if it is from Jesus or not.
It can be difficult by our human wisdom to discern whether a good idea is from Jesus or not.
It is only by the Holy Spirit we can discern things.
Some things which are brought our way are from the evil one to distract us from the path that Jesus has guided us to walk through.
Though many opportunities may seem good, but they could be simply not meant for us at this moment in our lives.
We can follow signs that we thought Jesus would be in the midst of, but later we realize that our own ambition led us there, not the voice of the Holy Spirt.
Likewise, there have been many times we missed an open door opportunity due to fear or our personal confusion.
It is important to have the Spirit of discernment to guide us to choose the right path that makes the most of our time to fulfill God’s will in our lives.
We must know that our choices must align with God’s will. It will have a direct effect on our lives and the lives of people around us.
Walking through the right doors at the right times is a very serious matter in our lives and we should not take it lightly; rather, it should be done with prayer and wisdom in the Holy Spirit.
There are several signs that reveal God’s will for His children.
One major aspect of discerning an open door is recognizing whether it will line up to the word of God in the Gospel.
The Lord will not guide us to the opportunity to sin or contradict His word.
Another sign is, if the open door causes us to act according to fruit of the flesh, like ambition, envy, lust, pride or selfishbess.
So, if the open door is to have a project that I have no experience of or it is more than our financial capabilities, so it is not from God.
The gospel says” . If the open door opportunity will lead us to lie or to steel, this is not from God.
To aggressively confront someone who has hurt us this is very likely the Holy Spirit is not leading us to do so.
The more we are connected to God in prayer, the easier it will be to hear His voice with precision.
Ultimately, it will be His voice that will illuminate the paths that we need to take.
All other opportunities, no matter how great they may initially seem, may simply be a distraction for our lives.
Another sign is, If we have been praying specifically for something, this upcoming opportunity may be an answer to our prayers.
So we have to be in the Spirit all the time to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and His guidance.
Many times, we pray for something, but when Jesus brings the manifestation, we begin to doubt.
The truth is Jesus responds to the prayers of His children.
We must know that if we are seeking the Lord for one of His promises towards us, He certainly can answer. Remember, nothing is impossible for our Lord.
There are times when God blesses us and we don’t see it coming.
When we obey Jesus’ command with humbleness and fully submit to the work of the Holy Spirt will simply open doors that we even did not have to ask for.
Nonetheless, God-given opportunities can have a positive ripple effect for us and for other people around us.
We are called to be a blessing to others. When we do so, this brings glory to the God we represent.
We all should take a moment to evaluate how walking through this open door opportunity will positively or negatively affect us or others.
We must seek the guidance and discernment of the Holy Spirit in every opportunity we get.
Amen.
