How To Win The War On Pride (Philippians 4:8)

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

When we follow Christ’s example, We walk a humble path.

His life is our example.

He was confident in God’s purpose for His life.

The Word made flesh, Jesus chose humility.

St. Paul in these verses gives us the lesson on how can we take our prideful thoughts captive and be obedient to the Spirit of humbleness. 

How?

By thinking of such things, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy.

Keeping our hearts locked in focus on Christ is paramount to winning the war on pride.

If we focus on Jesus all the time we can easily detect any evil spirit trying to invade our thoughts quickly.

Being in the Holy Spirit and not quenching Him in us, will protect us from any evil temptation.

Being united with Jesus will let our human souls hate sin and love Jesus more and more.

St. James admonishes us in his epistle, chapter one, verse twenty-one, saying, “Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.”

Humbleness is a way of protecting us from all evil trials and temptations.

It will let all our concern is how to please Jesus, our Lord, and preach His name to the whole world. 

Being humble will make us more entangled with ministering His name to all people around us.

We will love all people and try to comfort them in the Holy Spirit.

We will be busy to share His peace and love to even our enemies.

We will find ourselves bearing other people’s wrong doing because all our goal is to bring them to Jesus and they get comforted in Him.

Amen.
