Jesus Gives Gifts To Each Person, Just As He Desires (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between Spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He distributes them to each one, just as He desires.” (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)
Jesus, the Incarnated Son of God, came to our world to give us His eternal life, and give it abundantly.
While He was on earth, He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.
All Christians believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
There are many gifts that Jesus has given to His children for the common good.
That is to say He has given it for us not to boast about it but for the spiritual build up of the church.
St. Paul in his first epistle to the Corinthians, chapter fourteen, said “since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:12)
Healing prayers play a big role in the Christian faith.
We, the Christians, believe in the power of Jesus’ name and we trust in the power of prayer and faith in His name, to bring healing, whether it's physical, emotional, or spiritual.
These prayers come from the belief that Jesus, the Son of God, is loving and compassionate, always ready to provide comfort, restore health, and offer relief to those who seek Him.
People might pray alone or together during a church service or in a prayer group.
It’s a beautiful way to connect with Jesus and ask for His healing touch.
But this is something different than having the gift of healing.
The gift of healing is given to one person in a church that Jesus chooses.
It is given according to Jesus’ choice and desire.
It is not given to all the clergymen or laymen in the church.
He chooses one according to His will.
So we all pray for one another’s healing, but to have a person that has the gift of healing among us is a privilege that we thank our Lord for.
In the church we have one that has the healing gift not all have it.
Another one has the gift of wisdom not all have it.
Another person has the gift of prophecy, not all have it and so on.
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and Jesus distributes them to each one, just as He desires.
We may ask why not me having this gift that my brother has?
Why Jesus chose him not me?
Jesus is the only one who knows why and all what we must say, is, thank You Lord for having these gifts in our church.
We are blessed to have holy people around us that have the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
We all must humble ourselves and thank Jesus fo His work in our churches.
Amen.
