Today's Devotional

Fear No Evil, Cause Jesus Our Lord Is With Us (Psalm 23:1-4)

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:1-4)

When our fears and anxieties loom large, these verses affirm that we can sleep in peace, knowing that Jesus is with us and He will keep us safe.

Because we live in a fallen and broken world where there is literal and metaphorical darkness, fear and grief are so magnified and we are easily overwhelmed by them.

But saying loud these tender verses when we are facing sleepless nights they remind us of Jesus’ love for us and that He cares for us. 

Even though we walk through the darkest days, yet we should not fear for Jesus said that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Whatever the shadow of death that we are currently facing and no matter how large it feels in the darkest hour, we can trust that God will have a way when there is no way.

He can do the impossible and He interferes in the right perfect time to save us. 

When Jesus dwells in us in the Holy Spirit, His presence in us will give us power to face any trial and overcome it in His almighty name. 

He does not sleep or slumber and never ceases His vigil watching for us. 

Our Lord cares for us and will provide what we need when we ask Him. 

He is aware of everything and He takes an action when we need protection. 

He is so good and trustworthy enough to hold us through times of literal darkness.

He is our Shepherd and in Him we lack nothing.

Amen.
