Jesus Loves Us Even If We Are Imperfect (Ephesians2:8-9)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. 

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians2:8-9)

Living in this corrupted and evil world makes us think that we are worthy if we succeed. 

This success could be at work, having a good job with a good salary. 

Having a family with good reputation and successful kids. 

It could be also a successful minister who have a great ministry. 

This idea of success makes us dependable on ourselves and we boast all the time of how great and wise we are. 

If we look closer to this worldly idea we could see an underlying issue of perfectionism which unveil the deep sin of pride in us. 

And of course we see anything less than perfect in our eyes or in the eyes of people around us means we are a failure and worthless. 

This notion will influence us to believe that even Jesus, our Lord and Savior, will not accept us or our ministry unless we have too many people following us. 

A pastor believes that he can only make a difference if he increases the size of the congregation and so on and on. 

This Satan’s deceptive lie will lead us to think that our worth is tied to our performances and we fall for the lie that Jesus only loves us if we are doing everything right. 

Jesus knows that we cannot be perfect except in Him through the Holy Spirit, because He is the Only Perfect One. 

That is why He came to save us and give us His power over the devil, our enemy, and His lies and deadly temptations and deeds. 

We do everything with His grace lest anyone should boast. 

It is a gift of God. 

Jesus’ love for us has nothing to do with our successful deeds and performances. 

He saved us because of His grace and love, not because of anything we did or will do. 

We are the children of God and our worth is in Him, valued and loved by our Savior. 

Apostle John, in his gospel, chapter one, said “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John1:12-13)
