Today's Prayer

Prayer Asking For Jesus’ Rest

Dear lord,

I come to You tonight before I go to bed putting all the burdens I am carrying at Your feet. 

Thank You for offering me this gift to rest in You. 

Lord, I am really very tired, full of anxious thoughts, and very overwhelmed. 

I am so busy with all the work I do at home and at work. 

Sometimes my mind does not know to slow down even when I am praying or sleeping. 

I carry so much mentally, emotionally, and physically. 

Though I am so grateful to You for having a wonderful family and a promising job, yet I can feel the noise pilling up and building in me. 

Lord, my mind is noisy and sometimes I feel like I will never be able to catch my breath. 

But every time I read Your word in the Gospel it reminds me that I do not have to stay in that situation. 

It warns me that there is something wrong I do, or feel from the evil spirit. 

May be I want to control everything myself, or fear a lot about many things, or I want to do everything by my own strength, and I do not lean enough on You.

Please Lord, point to me through Your Holy Spirit, what is the sin that dwells in me that is separating me from Your peace, comfort, and rest. 

So right now, I choose by my free will to release it all to You.

Every anxious thought, every unmet expectation, every pressure I put on myself, every feeling of frustration and ungratefulness.

I lay all my imperfect feelings and wrong intentions down under Your feet.

Please, Lord, release me from it all.

All evil bondages that bond my emotion and my spirit.

Teach me how to quiet my soul like a child in your presence, secure and content.

Not striving for more, but satisfied with what I have and done.

I want to rest knowing that You have my tomorrow, and all that comes with tomorrow is in the palm of Your hands. 

Please Lord, teach me how to be simple in all I do or expect.

Help me to let go of the need to do everything perfectly.

Remind me that You are still there for me, and You still love me, even when I mess up with my life. 

Tonight, please, come to calm my soul and all what feels unsettled in me.

Quiet my soul, slow my heart, and take away all my pain and anxiety.

Let me feel Your presence, hear Your voice, and make it the loudest thing I hear.

Lord, I choose tonight to rest in You, having bold faith that You heard my prayer and supplications.

I give You all the praise and honor.

I glorify You name now and forever.

Amen.
