May The Power Of Christ Rest On Us (2Corithians12:7-10)

“A thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake.

For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2Corithians12:7-10)

St. Paul had a thorn in his flesh that Satan struck him with.

He went to the Lord praying asking Him to take it away from him.

We, the believers, used to believe that our worth is tied to our perfection. 

Perfect looking, perfect job, perfect social life, etc.

Therefore, we feel that any imperfection or any mistake we do is like a stain and a mark of shame that we could never wash away. 

This feeling makes us disconnected from Jesus.

But Jesus did answer Apostle Paul and us saying, that His grace is sufficient for us and His power is made perfect in our weaknesses.  

Jesus is saying to each one of us that our mistakes can be changed in the Holy Spirit. 

He can change them to a tool to learn new things and we gain experience.

In Jesus Christ all things can change to be for our good.

Our scars are not irremovable stains but they can be covered and removed in Jesus Christ’s perfection and righteousness.

In our weaknesses we acknowledge Jesus’ power and strength.

We know that in His grace we can do the impossible.

So every time the accuser, the devil, our enemy, comes to accuse us of our weaknesses or mistakes, instead of dwelling on the shame or hurt, we quickly go to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, asking Him to show us the way to change and reshape us in the Holy Spirit.

We can use this weakness to testify how in Jesus’ power we changed and experienced His strength in us.

How He used that experience to shape us into a more compassionate, faithful, and resilient children of God.

Amen.
