Be Patient In Bearing Others’ Burdens (Romans 15:1-5)

“We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:1-5.)

We sometimes face wicked actions from co-workers, friends, or family members.

They may make our lives difficult dealing with them.

They either do theses wicked actions intentionally or unintentionally.

Sometimes we feel vulnerable and like they hold power over some aspect of our lives. we find our anxiety spiking leading us to react in anger and frustration.

Actually, our improper reactions and behaviors toward their wicked actions hurt us more than their offense.

But we must remember St. Johns words to us in his first epistle, chapter five, saying, that the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one, who is the devil.

And that we know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

We are of God.

St. Paul also says to us in these verses, we just read that we are strong, in the Holy Spirit, and we ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Let each of us edify those who hurt us by the word of God, instead of hurting them back.

Let us reward evil with good and never evil with evil as Jesus commanded us. We are the children of God and must behave as Jesus commanded us.

We must never forget that the devil uses the people around us to insult us or hurt us to tempt us to behave like the worldly people and not like the children of God.

Through the patience and comfort that we received from the Holy Spirit, we will bear the weaknesses and burdens of others.

Now may the God of patience and comfort grant us to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that we may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.
