Today's Devotional

Put on Christ (Mathew 19:23-26)

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Mathew 19:23-26)

The word of God teaches us that God does not expect us to live as He commanded us for one minute, unless the Holy Spirit is in us to enable us to do it. 

Our role in this process is to unit our will to the will of God and be ready to obey His command and give the Holy Spirit a place to sanctify us.

God knows that we cannot live a right life unless we are guided by His Spirit every minute. 

The mark of the children of God is that they are led by the Holy Spirit and that our Lord Jesus Christ can actually take possession, and make us like Himself.

Jesus lived a life upon earth to show us how to live holy while we are still on earth. The very root of His life before God was a life of absolute dependence, absolute trust, absolute surrender. 

So we have to surrender everything in us to Jesus and be in full unity with Him so that the Holy Spirit succeeds to change us to be like Him.

Until we are one with Him, it is in vain to seek here or there to copy the graces of His life.

It is not imitating or copying Jesus’ life but receiving Him in us and be one with Him in order that the Holy Spirit in us fulfill His commands. 

Everyone of us has to have in heart that God may work out His purpose and glory in us from moment to moment. 

We do not attain the victory at once, but we need to take the right attitude and receive Christ’s power and indwelling, in His likeness, and desire to live out our life before Him.
