Our Deeds Must Be Pleasing To God (2Corinthians 5:7, 9-10)

“For we walk by faith, not by sight, Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2Corinthians 5:7, 9-10) 

Sometimes we pray, hope, and wait to see any progress or change in our circumstance.

No signs that things are moving forward and slowly discouragement sets in.

We begin to wonder: Is God really working?

St. Paul is reminding us of a very important and fundamental truth while we are walking our spiritual journey, and that is, we are living by faith not by sight. 

Living by faith means trusting our Lord when we cannot see what He is doing. 

We have confidence that if we are united with Jesus, everything will be good because we love Him and we obey His command. 

This is His promise. 

He can do the impossible. 

It is our old human nature that tends to measure change and progress by what we see. 

We look for visible results and we seek tangible confirmation. 

We have no patience and want a proof that our prayers are working. 

But having the new nature when being united with Jesus, our Lord and savior, we trust that He is working and we will see the result in His perfect timing. 

We believe with complete assurance that He answered our prayers and things are changing even when we cannot see it with our physical eyes.

We can see it with our inner eyes by faith.

We know that Jesus is faithful, even when we are not. 

Waiting in patience for Jesus’ answer to our prayers will lead to the growth and development of our faith. 

So if we feel anytime that nothing is happening and no answer to our prayers, do not lose heart, but wait in patience to Jesus’ perfect time, trusting that something deeper is taking place.

Choose faith, trust Him in the unseen and in the waiting, that He is working and one day we will see the fruit of everything He has been doing invisibly.

Amen.
