Today's Devotional

Be Holy, For Jesus Our Lord Is Holy (1 Peter 1:13-15)

“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-15)

When we first believe in Christ we must prepare ourselves for the next step which is to be vessels, cleansed, emptied, consecrated to receive Him in the Holy Spirit.

It is the work of the Holy Spirit in us to sanctify us and make us Holy. 

The Holy Spirit fills us with Jesus’ life, love, patience, peace and all the fruits of His Spirit.

Many of the believers though they know Christ, they trust Him, they love Him, but He is not a Master, He is a sort of helper.

When there is trouble, they come to Him.

When they sin, they ask Him for pardon in His precious blood.

When they are in darkness they cry to Him; but often and often they live according to their own will, and they seek help from themselves.

There are many who have accepted Christ as their Lord, but have never yet come to the final, absolute surrender of everything.

Today’s call for each one of us is to make Jesus master over our whole life.

We may have done our very best to get our life changed, we have used every method we could think of for getting it put right; but it will not come right until He, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, comes in to take charge.

Give Him charge of our temper, our heart's affections, our thoughts, our whole being, and He will prove Himself worthy of it.

Amen.
